Mokoma has been around for several years and released its first album at 1999, and the genre was something more rock styled at the beginning than these days. Mokoma has been touring Finland a lot and slowly got a big part of the finnish metal scene.

I had high hopes for thisd album and I never would have never imaged the come like this. Its a pop album with few not so good basic Mokomas songs. Marko Annala said in an interview that the band has finally learned how to make pop. I was like WHAT?! POP?1, are you fucking kidding me!? Ye well the first single Valkoista kohinaa was far away from pop, except that the singing style sounded a bit rap styled, but still with a deep growl. Hard to explai, listen to yuorself.

180 astetta had kinda mixed basis with the interview telling other and the fisrt single other. But when the second song was released "Punamultaa" it kinda sealed the albums faith. Well atleast i didnt like the song much, it was kinda overusing again the old Mokomas slow styled songs triks and kicks. The melodies were nothing special and the feeling was kinda lame. Punamultaa`s only good thing was the lyrics, which i would like to have heard in a better song. Nevertheless when i got the album i listened it through and had really bad feelings about the album. I thought, maybe its better if I listen to it few more times. But NO it keeped getting worse and worse. Ye you might predict what happened next, i stopped listening.

Well finally to the actual album. The songs are mostly slow Mokoma styled metal songs, and I personally think that most of them are nothing, you listen to them once you listen to them twice. You got nothing, nothing there wants you to listen the song again no cathcy parts no epic melodies, no epic brutality, which they once had. There are some basic Mokomas more agressive styled songs, but no they cant even do these right. Well thats just my opinion and you can maybe find more from this album when you listen them you self but i really cant even tell the name of the songs because theres nothing much that would caught my attention. So im not gona differ the songs much.

Sorry for the rude text if you like the album, i just dont.
All wintersun's music is composed by ex-ensiferum guitarist/vocalist Jari Mäenpää. Wintersun has released only one album called Wintersun. Now is a good time to make review consentrating on this album 'cause Wintersun is going to release its brand new album Time in a few weeks.

The album starts with a song called Beyond the Dark Sun. It is a short only two and a half minutes long ass-kicking song. Winter Madness is a second song. It's full of good folkish melodies, blast beats, choirs and technical guitar playing. Then comes Sleeping Stars. It's a beautiful slowdown-song. I really liked this song and the lyrics fit perfectly to this song. Battle Against Time Is again fast blast beat song. It sounds very much like the old Ensiferum. Next song is Death And Healing. In my opinion this is clearly the best song on this album. Death And Healing is a middle tempo song with beautiful melodies, clean vocals and very nice guitar solo. Next comes Starchild. I don't really like this song. In my opinion the melodies are a bit too happy. I'd have liked to hear something more melancholly. Beautiful Death is a good song. It has many different parts. Some places it sounds very brutal and some places very beautiful. Sadness and hate is over ten minutes long masterpeace that starts with an acoustic folkish intro and grows to an epic melodic folk metal perfection.

It is hard to say what genre this album represents but according to Jari Mäenpää let's say it's some kind of ”Extreme Majestic Technical Epic Melodic Metal”. The playing in Wintersun is very technical on guitars and drums but Kai Hahto (drummer) and Jari mäenpää have done everything perfectly. Jari Mäenpää's singing is also very technical. He has a wide scale of different voices. high and low cleans and growls and everything. I must say his very talented musician. I think that every fans of the first two Ensiferum albums would like this Wintersun's debut. This is very similar to those two, but more technical of course. Now we just have to wait a few more days for Wintersun's up-coming album which is finally going to be released after many delays...
Its got only two members and they started playing in 2011. This is their first album and it has released free at bandcamp.com. So you can download the entire album from there if you like. The band is pretty underground, and really hasnt gotten any popular attention, but i find it interesting and fresh in the style of folk metal. Which usually comes from scandinavia.. well this ones from USA so you should check it out because of that and becouse of the epic music they make... of course.. The band describes itself as "Epic Organic Boreal Black Metal", sounds kinda epic, right?

To the album. It starts with aa orchestral intro, that kinda gets you on the right mood for this bit depressive styled folk metal. The ravensroad represent albums faster side which is done with nice touch to the folk style. Even though the melodies and riffs are kinda simple, the riffs are very catchy, if your willing to listen more than 2 times. The studio quality is not the greatest, but this album has been done with the bands own money and mixings so dont give it too much attention, i really like it thought. I kinda hate the over over over mixed songs, which are kinda usual these days. Well I havent never been a pop metal fan, so its kinda logic.

Anyway the albums sounds sound great for me. There is few songs, that i dont like so much, and i really havent paid much attention to them but they actually started sound better and better after few listening. I got this problem that i cant really listen album many times, but leaving some songs between and i never get really familiar with them, and this happened with this album also.

"The Coldhands" and "elsewhere", are those songs, and they arent so catchy and mind touching than the others but great songs, maybe someday when i really would listen them over and over again, maybe. And then comes "Winter`s eye which is a slow song, and its really epic with Turisas style singing and slow but really intense riffs and, its just greatness. Like the other faster song in this album "Frost Fangs", its really great, its got some great piano and flute melodies, but still i like the slower songs of this song more like "The Larkspurs Crown" which is, no doubt one of the best songs in this album, great mix of this battle style orchestra clean singing and deep growls.

The growls in this album are some pure perfection and really gives orgams to my ear. Combined with some epic slow riffs, this album gets me the goosepumps, with its greatest moments. Its shame that this album as usually albums lacks, of the decent line that would keep all of the albums song great. It`s just hard to make album full of hits but its been done, and i dont see the reason why shouldnt i expects those great performances from upcoming album.

Btw there was only one song in youtube, so this is really underground.... not the best but good song still.
It was formed in Lappeenranta in 1996. They have released eight albums but the newest one Varjopuoli includes only the acoustic versions of some old songs. So this review consentrates on the second new album Sydänjuuret. It was released in 2010.

Sydänjuuret includes 11 songs of pure melodic thrash metal with finnish lyrics. The first song is Sydänjuuret and it's a good start with an attitude. Next song is Vastavirtaan. It is nothing special but the original Mokoma song. Then comes Ei kahta sanaa (ilman kolmatta). There is no growls on this song and personally I don't really like much Marko Annala's clean vocals so this song presents the weaker part of the album. Vääräleuka starts with a nice guitar intro. then comes a brutal verse with deep crowls and chorus with a nice vocal melody. Next comes the second best song of this album Kristuksen ruumis ja pedon pää. Even there's no growls on this song I really like the vocal melodies there. Then comes Niin hyville kuin pahoille. There's nothing special. It's a good song but it doesn't show anything new. Rautaa Rinnoista is a bit different kind of song. It starts with a bit folkish guitar melody and then comes a brutal verse and chorus etc.. Älä anna sille nimeä is a slower song. Almost the whole song is played with clean guitars and there's no growls except some screams in the end. I don't like this song at all. Kalmannäkijä is an original thrash song. Then comes Hei hei heinäkuu, which i have heard millions times on the radio and it really annoys me nowadays. I don't know what's wrong with this song but i just don't like it. The last song is Turhuuksien turhuus which is definetely the best song on this album. It's brutal, it's melodic, lots of growls and nice guitar solo.

Sydänjuuret is the only Mokoma album that I like. But still there's a bit too much of songs that I don't like. This is a good start for me and Mokoma and who knows if their up coming album 180 astetta would be even better than this. But in the end I want to say that Sydänjuuret is a good album and if you like the other Mokoma albums, I quess you like Sydänjuuret.
Korpiklaani is a finnish folk metal band, and it has been formed in 1993 under the name "Shaman". The name has been changed to "Korpiklaani" in 2003. Korpiklaani`s music is very catchy and the singing is really unique, like growls with melodies. You should hear it yourself though. The songs are usually pretty simple and the songs are really good to turn up the atmosphere. They are mostly happy songs, and especially the songs named after some drink like "Vodka" and "Tequila" are very popular songs. This is why the bands style is also generally called "drinking metal". The music is really good for evening get-togethers. Happy melodies and great riffs and the epic metallic touch cant ruin the night. Seriously.

Korpiklaani`s music consists of metal riffs mixed with accordion and violin, which kinda make them folk metal. I havent really listened much of Korpiklaani before this album but, after seeing them live second time, it just caught me. And thats why i cant much compare this album to the before realeased ones.

In additon, I`m gona use the finnish names for the songs in the review.

Manala has been relaseased in two albums. One in finnish lyrics and songs, and one with english versions of all songs and lyrics. They have released one musicvideo "Rauta/Iron" from the album, in english and in finnish. Rauta is a good song, not the best that this album offers though. Rauta is not an usual korpiklaani song, with happy metal riffs and middle tempo. Its a bass based song mostly with epic bass riff, but thats pretty much all. The album starts with the song "Kunnia", that is a solid Korpiklaani song, nothing very special but really good background music for get-togethers. The song "Tuonelan tuvilla" sounds bit like fill up song and, it has some good parts but mostly i think its bit too simple. Third comes "Rauta". the fourth song "Ruumiinmultaa" is very much like the fist song and like that its usual Korpiklaani song. Its a good song, but still nothing very special.

The best of this album, in my opinion is the slower songs, the "Synkkä" and "Metsälle", are very beautiful songs, with epic violin melodies, and some touching lyric. The slow songs are really different and the song "Metsälle" is the best that this album offers. Its acoustic guitars and violin play grow into epicness with distortion guitars and rough singing. You should really listen this with a care, the usual Korpiklaani songs go into background and you can listen them a million times, but you dont catch the details from them, expect like some repeating lyric like "Vodka".

"Sumussa Hämärän Aamun" is a different song that is a slow one but really like Metallica style metal music, whic is a new branching to Korpiklaani, i kinda like the new style and kinda not. It`s refreshing compared to other songs of the album but still, its not good. Maybe if they keep going more to this type of songs, it gets better. The folk style is really in a smaller part, than in usual Korpiklaani songs. I dont really care for the instumental songs in this album, if youre gona do a instrumental you should get something more than in normal songs, but this album instrumentals were the same as the normal songs, without anything special. Expect the singing missing.

The whole album, is good in all. I really missed some really cathcy riffs. But its all good, I got what i wanted from this album, good atmospherical music and few special really good songs. But chechk it out yourself. Its worth listening!
They have released 3 studio albums and the newest one is called Stand Up And Fight. Turisas' music is very unique over all albums. Some have called their genre as Battle metal which is understandable because of their massive cinematic orchestrations and viking related lyrics.

Stand Up And Fight consists of nine songs closing the three-albums-long story about the norwegian vikings travel to the byzantine. The first song is called The March of the Varagian Guard. It's Majestic intro immediately tells you what is coming. Pure and heavy viking/folk metal as you may expect from Turisas. The March of the Varangian Guard is a perfect start for this album. Next song is a little different Take the Day!. First i didn't like this song at all but after many listenings this song finally opened to me. Its chorus is a bit like influenced by 80's heavy metal? I don't know but it sounds really cool. Next we have this cheery Hunting Pirates. By this song Turisas shows how diverse band it really is. I have never heard this kind of metal whit all the accordion stuff and violin solos until know. Next song is Βένετοι! - Πράσινοι! I think this is the the worst song in this album. After so many listenings I still don't like this very much. Anyway, this song presents Turisas' versatile use of horns and trumpets and other classical instruments. Stand Up and Fight is a standard Turisas song. Theres's also a music video made of it. The video is kind of silly but the song is very good I think. Next song The Great Escape is very much different song as you may have used to hear by Turisas. As Take the Day, in some places this song also sounds like some older heavy metal. But in the end The Great Escape is a very good song. I especially liked the orchestrations in the latter part of it. Beautiful. Fear the Fear is one of the best songs in Stand Up And Fight. Nothing more to say, you just have to listen to it. Next song is clearly the best song Turisas have ever made. End Of an Empire, seven minutes and sixteen seconds of pure gold. I just can't come up with anything bad to say about this. Intro really reminds me about some movie scene. Verses are great, Bridges are epic with a fantastic choirs, choruses are perfect, growls sound awesome, interlude is very good and Iiro Rantalas piano playing fits there perfectly. And finally the choirs in the end. MAJESTIC. this song tells all what turisas is made of nowadays, in only seven minutes. The last song is The Bosphorus Freezes Over. Excellent ending for this epic album. It starts with an emotional and beatiful violin intro. And again this takes my mind into some scene in an old movie theatre. This is very good song and here's even finnish used in the lyrics which is always a good thing.
it's kind of a good thing. Now the vocals has much variation keeping
listeners interested. Other instruments does their job very good. All songs are good except Βένετοι! - Πράσινοι! But it just shows that Turisas still has something to do a little bit better.

Stand Up And Fight is clearly the best Turisas album. Album by album Turisas has grew its music so huge that I can't even imagine what's coming next. The Use of real classical instruments instead of some computer made stuff was a great choice from turisas. It makes the music feel much more realistic. I must say that Mathias Nygård has made incredible job. He has composed all the music, has made all the lyrics, and as the album info says: ''all the orchestral and classical choir arrangements are made by Perttu Vänskä under the iron fist of Nygård''. And the whole album is also produced by Nygård. In this album there wasn't so much growls than in the others and I think it's kind of a good thing. Now the vocals has much variation keeping listeners interested. I'll give the full 5 stars. Go, buy and listen to this album!

Blind Stare is a Finnish
band, and plays melodic deathmetal with symphonic metal influences.
Their music consists of melodic deathmetal riffs, clean vocal choruses
and deep growling. Their strenght is the slower parts with many piano
melodies and atmospherical symphonic metal riffs.

The
Dividing line starts with a song that, is much more hardcore rock
stylish than other, i really dont think that this was the best choise
for a starting song. It doesnt have any especially good riffs or
anything like that. I would recommend that if you start listening this
album start from the second song called "The minds armor". The songs
start to get more "epic" and the melodies from syntehtisator mixed with
heavy metal riffs and deep growling is something, that sounds very
beautiful to my ear. i have to admit that when you get to third maybe
fourth song, the pop style of the band starts to kick in and i hate it.
The riffs become these modern metal simple goin on and on with the same
chord. Without anything to add to the song. Yep, the choruses consist of
boring pop melodies.

Luckily the pop phase fades
away at the song "Blessing Of the Freya". This is the masterpiece of
this album, atleast in my opinio. It`s a beautiful song with lots of
beautiful melodies nice riffs and the atmosphere in this song is just
something calming. And the next song called "The list" is a descent
song, except the verse is really boring, and sounds like forcibly made.
Otherwise the song is good melodeath, not excellent but good.. Yet the
next song "The Redemption" belongs definetly to the albums top songs.
It`s a beautiful song, like "Belssing of the Freya" And the strongest
part of the album really shows itself in these two songs, which bring
lots of expectations to the rest album.

The first of
the three last song is called "The disciple" which is an ordinary
melodeath song with no hook really. Like the rest album, you really dont
get the "must listen again" feeling from the rest of the album, and i
personally hate the parts where the singing and riffs go "modern pop
metal", with lame clean vocals, simple guitar riffs and the usual "pop
metal drum beat", which you can hear almost in any modern metal band
that plays in radio...The songs include nice riffs and cool ideas, but
in some parts the album, in whole, sounds like it should have been done
with more time and much with much more considering to the songs, that
arent the the hit single ones. As usual, the album has too many fill up
songs that really arent really even worth listening twice, They arent
that bad, but just enough to get the not so great feeling after
listening the album. The two three songs are great, but why make an
album, that hang on just few songs. Wonder, these days the albums have
much more pressure on writing the whole album great than just few songs.
Nowadays you can buy by download and get just single songs, and i
really wouldnt have bought more than three or four.

Well
anyway, the album has few great songs, and the few is definetly worth
listening. Especially melodeath fans and symphonic metal fans would
really enjoy those songs. And you could like the rest, maybe im just too
picky... I dont know. find out yourself!
Ensiferum is one of the most famous finnish folk metal bands. It's formed in 1995 and it has now released its 5th studio album Unsung Heroes.

Ensiferum has always had its own style of making music. Album by album they have always managed to make a better album than before. First two albums Ensiferum and Iron were pretty good but only after Jari mäenpää left the band the music has taken a huge step forward. Unsung Heroes is definitely their best album. There can be noticed a huge progress compared to their earlier albums. Unsung Heroes sounds more fresh and there has been used much more orchestrations and choirs.

The album starts with an intro Symbols. Its very nice peace of calming music. it prepares listener for the adventures into battlefields and ancient forests with its cinematic orchestrations. Second song In my sword I trust which was a single song for the album and there's also a music video made by it, is an energetic song that fits perfectly to the opening. Next one is a tittle track Unsung Heroes. It's a bit different song than their earlier stuff. Tempo is much slower than Ensiferum usually has and the orchestrations sounds very cool in the end. Burning Leaves is an ordinary Ensiferum song. Theres a cool folk melody that leads through the song. There's also used finnish in the latter part of the song and it makes a nice variety to the vocals. Celestial Bond is a nice calm before the storm. Next song is Retribution shall be mine. It shows up the faster side of Unsung Heroes. I quess the fans who likes more Ensiferum's older stuff like iron would like this song. Star Queen (Celestial bond part ll) starts with an acoustic guitars playing the Celestial Bond's main theme and continues with bassist Sami Hinkkas vocals(which I think sounds very good in this album) Star Queen is a good song with very nice chorus. Pohjola is the best song in this album in my opinion. There's very much variety in this song. Big choirs, finnish language, growls, clean vocals, blast beats and a famous finnis actor/musician Vesa-Matti Loiri! The song ends with an epic Finntroll like melody that stucks into your head for a long time. Last Breath is a second calming song. It's an acoustic song with bassist Sami Hinkkas vocals. It's very good song and shows this new side of ensiferum. There's also a catching flute melody and choirs in this song. The last song is seventeen-minutes-long massive peace of art Passion Proof Power. It starts with a long a bit boring intro but when the guitars and drums start playing you know that something epic is coming out soon. The melody in verse is very good. I think the clean vocals has never sound this perfect in any of ensiferums earlier songs. Passion Proof Power is full of cool melodys and riffs. There's also some time signature changes, which are very welcome in Ensiferums music. I could praise this song for hours and hours, but I quess it's better for everyone to just go and listen to this song and enjoy the epicness it provides.

I must say that Ensiferum has reached completely new levels with Unsung Heroes. Vocals are better than I could ever expect. Even the clean vocals are now hundred times better than before. I still would have hoped there to be a bit more growls. Orchestrations sound a bit like in Turisas' newest album Stand up and fight and that's a very good thing. They are going to the right direction. I also noticed that some of the melodies sounded very much like Finntroll. For Exampel in the latter part of In my sword I trust and Pohjola. But that's a good thing too.

Unsung Heroes is much different compared to From Afar and it might take a few times of listening before it shows all the good features it has. I recommend this album to all fans of good folk metal. Go to buy it and enjoy!

The Order of Elijah plays progressive deathcore with some beautiful melodic deathmetal melodies with electronic vibes and combines them with brutal deathcore style riffs, which are breakdown based of course...

Accession is their newest and only album full of breakdowns, blast beats, super fast double pedal kicks and somewhat electronic sounds/melodies. Album starts with an intro Conquer which is nothing special, and doesnt give really anything about the album, basicly the style is noticable, and its pretty basic deathcore. The basics turn to something much better when the next song comes up with guitar melodies and riffs, that are pretty fresh style in the modern deathcore scene thats has been in the same style for atleast two years, and if you dont name few specialcases the outcome from the most modern deathcore bands sound exaclty the same. I`m not saying that this album really is the "one" that changes everything, but i thinks its going to the right direction with the melodic death metal styled riffs combined with deathcore, this has been done before but its done right in this album time to time.I might have wanted some more of this style, but it gets lost in the midst of the album. Shame.

Theres something else that this album lacks, you can hear it from the second song to go trough the whole album, diversity. Especially listening to the drums the beats are sounding amazingly same in lots of the songs. Ye i know the breakdown is really limited when it comes to drum playing, but still some fresh way of hitting the drums there would have sounded cool. It starts to get bit boring in the middle section of the songs, the same old blast beat, with nothing new is kinda heard. Sorry. I like blast beats but you really need to use it exclusively, to make it sound perfect. It get`s kinda dull, if you hear the pattern blast beat->breakdown->blast beat->breakdown going true the song everytime. The growling and screaming isnt anything special either, usually when i listen to this kinda music i really care about how does the vocals come out, but with this one i really didnt notice anything special, not good, but not bad either.

From the fifht song called Sticthes the album gets more and more brutal with slow breakdowns and slow riffs, i like the "slow brutal killer breakdown riffs" if it is done with good taste and with really thinking the breakdowns and not just putting hits hear and there. Well i cant say wheter have they being thinking, but its nothing special and not even close to excelence. In song Nails Over the Duct tape is a part where they really is trying to sound like emmure or not, but still the out of tune singing is one of Emmure`s signatures...

The album has it`s moments and it really promises a lot with the intros, but the rest really lacks the "exceptional deathcore" You can hear many deathcore bands if you listen closely, mostly probably "As Blood Runs Black". That kinda synopsis the album It`s nothing special, but does the basic of the deathcore atleast decent. The best songs are the second and the third listen to them, and you have pretty much heard the whole album. If you like them you may like the rest, but i cant promise that, so find out yourself!
It is formed in 2002. All shall perish has released three albums through Nuclear Blast. They are also going to release their fourth album this year. While waiting that, let's concentrate on their second album The Price of Existence.

All shall perish plays a quite brutal deathcore. There're fast death metal riffs and slow breikdowns, superfast blast beats and beautiful syntesizers mixed with cruel and brutal vocals.

First track is ''Eradication'', which is a quite natural ASP song. Full of pig squeals, blast beats and death metal riffs, being nothing exceptional. Next comes ''Wage slaves''. It's just something you must hear if you're into deathcore. The intro riff is just so brutal and the cowbell fits there perfectly. This is one of the best songs in this album. ''A day of justice'' is a good song too but after a pure start it goes quite boring. "There Is No Business to Be Done On A Dead Planet" comes next being a pure perfection. In this song everything is like I want it to be. Vocals are very diverse and the musicians handles their jobs perfectly. "Better Living Through Catastrophe" is a quite good song but nothing special. "Prisoner of War" is the best song in this album, in my opinion. After a beautiful synthesizer intro, comes a nice breikdown with a good guitar melody. I really like all the guitar riffs in this song. Especially those scruffy ones. There's also a nice guitar solo in the latter part of the song. ''Greyson'' is an acoustic song. In my opinion, this is the worst song in this album. But it calms the atmosphere nicely before the last four songs. "We Hold These Truths...." is a very good song. Nice melodies, riffs and vocals. ''The True Beast'' is not so good as the first scream makes you think. After a good intro it goes a bit boring, despite of the diverse vocals. ''Promises'' is not so good either. There're nothing to make you wanna' listen it again. ''The last relapse'' is the last song and in my opinion, this is not a good ending for this album, which is mostly sterling. The last relapse is a boring song and those clean vocals just doesn't fit in this song and the album.

The Price of Existence is mostly a very good deathcore album. It has everything that needed to be a good album, but still there're a few weaker songs ruining the atmospere. Hopefully the newest album will be even better.

Rating: 3,5/5

Tracklist:

"Eradication"

"Wage Slaves"

"The Day of Justice"

"There Is No Business to Be Done On A Dead Planet"

"Better Living Through Catastrophe"

"Prisoner of War"

"Greyson"

"We Hold These Truths...."

"The True Beast"

"Promises"

"The Last Relapse"

C#-drophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12854548311320736640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6388059659102072910.post-85538118234757620002011-04-14T04:07:00.000-07:002011-04-14T04:07:27.673-07:00We Butter the Bread with Butter - Der Tag an Dem Die Welt Unterging (2010)WBTBWB is a German deathcore/metalcore/fun metal band. It's music consists of catchy Synthesizer melodias, brutal metal breakdowns, and of course screamo vocals and pig squels. WBTBWB is a very unique styled band and i cant even call one band that sound anything like WBTBWB.

Der Tag an Dem Die Welt Unterging consists of 15 epic and innovative tracks that really gets you after few listens. This songs are so catchy, that you must listen them over and over again.
WBTBWB's second album is much better than the debut onem with more intelligent riffs and better mixing this album is the best WBTBWB can offer. There's really something unexplainable in the album. It's like a mix of the best pop melodies and brutal breakdowns with really unique screamo. Album kicks off with intro, and the song that carries the album's name comes second. "Der Tag an Dem Die Welt Unterging" starts pretty simple melodies, but when the song goes on it builds up with massive epic melodies and breakdowns and comes down as a really great song. Third song "Oh mama mach Kartoffelsala" is a bluesy style song and its really great going at some party or something. Fourth isnt, that ood song but it goes well with between two great songs. "Superföhn Bananendate" is closest to a a pop song or some techno song, and with its catchy tunes and epic guitar riffs, its really a great song. "Sixth song isn't nothing special. A going song, and little brutal than others. Seventh song "Glühwürmchen" got some nice guitar riffs and great guitar playing with epic techno pop melodies. "Der Kleine vampir" Is really a pop song that is about Little Dancing Vampire, isnt that cute.. Epic song still. Few songs passed comes, "Wir gehen an land" which got some nice piq squels and really circus type melodies, you should check this. Then "Mein Baumhaus" Best song in this album, in my opinion, its got everything, breakdowns, catchy melodies, guitar riffs and everything. Last song is called "Das Ende" you can hear the end part in the breakdown, it's really sloooooow.

Veil of maya is an American progressive deathcore band, which has released three full-leght albums. Two of those were released through Sumerian Records. (Which has also released albums of bands like Born of osiris, After the burial and Faceless.) But let's focus on this album now.

At first, this album was some kind of shock to me. The previous album ''The common man's collapse'' was just a pure perfection and expectations for ''[id]'' were very high. When i finally got this album and listened to it, i felt disappointed. The previous album just sounded better and I found nothing new on this album. So, I decided not to listen to it. I was wrong, because it just needed a few more listens to sound good.

First there's an intro, which is not even good. But then comes the first song ''Unbreakable'', which is a quite good song, I think. There are some good guitar riffs and energetic breakdowns. Then comes ''Dark passenger'', which is not so good song, in my opinion. it's a bit boring, but I really like that peaceful bridge in the middle of this song. Next song is ''The highler''. It's very energetic song and shows Veil of Maya's faster side. ''Martyrs'' and ''Circle'' are just lame. Both of them are only a breakdowns without vocals and that just doesnt work. ''Resistance'' is a quite normal Veil of maya song. ''Mowgli'' consists of one good and a few worse guitar riffs being a bit boring song, likewise ''Namaste''. ''Conquer'' is one of the best songs on ''[id]''. I just can't say anything bad about it. The last song is ''Codex'' and I really can say, this is the best song Veil of maya have ever made. Lenght is perfect (three and half minute), The main riff kicks ass and you can listen to it over and over again without getting enough of it.

This was one of the best albums last year and I really recommend every deathcore fans to listen to this. Listening to ''[id]'' is such an experience, you can't find anywhere else. So I wish you nice listening moments!

It has some songs remastered from CoC's previous Demo's and Ep's, and of course new songs. CoC plays progressive deathcore, and mostly riffs are atleast breakdown styled. Coc's music is also very technical and really random, with many tempo changes/time signature changes. CoC's lyrics are bit strange and very deep, you might say. Now to the album.

Artifacts in Motion starts with the song "Color lines", which was their debut EP's title. And "Color lines is remastered from the EP. "Color lines sounded better in their EP, in my opinion, but the bass kicks are much stronger and better in the album so i suggest you check both versions and decide afterwards which one do you like the best. It's a great song and so progressive and technical that you must listen it many times, before you fully get it and the idea. Second song "Nothing imminent" is also remastered from the EP. Nothing imminent is solid CoC song, with epic solo at the end. very brutal and technical playing with epic guitar riffs and especially breakdowns.
Third song carries the name of the album. "Artifacts in motion". It's a little less brutal and technical than the 2 first ones. But it gives the album some new listeners. Nice riffs and catchy breakdowns. 4th song is "Concealed" which is the only song that has gotten a music video. It's also one of the best songs in this album. And one of my personal favourites. "Concealed"'s breakdowns and the chorus with awesomely done clean vocals, is just something insanely epic. It's just so great song.

5th song is "Remnants left". its much slower than the other songs and bit boring, in my opinion. Never gotten really into this song but, it has its moments.6th song "C.o.C" is also a remaster, and the remastering is done way better on this one, that was it in "Color lines". "C.o.C" is also one of my favourite songs. Its very technical and the changing between slow and fast parts are just dynamite. "Prelude for the implication" is instrumental, and i've got really nothing to say about this one, you may like it, or not. "Pendulum swing" is 8th song. its like brutal awesomeness, with extremely epic breakdowns and the chorus' riff is very catchy and mellow. Check this song out. 9th song "A day for a night" Is also an epic song, with tempo changes, and with its extreme technicality. And of course its epic bass solos. "Zerohour" is a bit boring song with nothing special.
Last song "Scour the sharp side" is an amazing ending for this album, its very brutal but the ending is pure gold.
Suidakra was formed in 1994 and it has released 10 studio album over years. I have never really liked suidakra's music but maybe this album might change my view.

The first song is ''Over nine waves''. It starts with a some kind of bagpipe melody which lasts the whole song. This song is very annoying, in my opinion. The next song ''Dowth 2059'' is a better one. There's a few good guitar riffs and melody parts but nothing special. ''Battle- Cairns'' is the best song on this album. It starts with a majestic melody, which is still the only thing that makes me want to listen to this song to the end. Then comes the worst song ''Birog's Oath''. First there's only a female vocals sounding very irritating and then the other band comes up, but still keeping the quality low. Next song is ''Mag mell''. It's an acoustic song and gives a bit variation. ''The dark mound'' is just a song. I have nothing to mention about it. ''Balor'' is second really good song on this album. The acoutic intro is cool and the whole song is full of good ideas. ''Stone of the seven suns'' is a song that offers nothing special. ''Fury fomoraigh'' is just a fill up song. Just to make the album longer. ''Otherworlds collide'' is very nice acoustic song. It's very melancholic and sad ending.

This album was just like I expected. Nothing special. Only few good songs and lots of fill ups. I don't recommend this for anybody. I know this album will find it's audience but i'm not part of it.

Children of Bodom was one of my personal favourites years ago when the new unique styled band Children of Bodom, were nothing more than an underground band. COB released epic album like "Follow the Reaper" and "Hatebreeder". Those albums were very melodic, and intense albums with classical glances. Now COB has released their seventh album, and it really disappointed me.

'Relentless Reckless Forever" begins with a song called "Not my funeral", which is kinda the best that this album can offer. It starts with a bit boring riff, but the chorus is the best one in this album. It's really melodic and innovative. Rest of the song is nothing special, just some typical later Bodom styled riffs and stuff. Alexi's vocals have gone, in my opinion, more bad every album. You can hear it from the first song too. Drums in this album are much more weaker sounding than in Blooddrunk, which had too powerful sounding bass drum. Now the bass drum kicks are too weak. That makes the bass drum sound like tom, and when the drummer has lost he's wanting to showoff, theres nearly nothing virtuoso like in the drumming section.

Second song "Shovel Knockout" has it good parts, but nothing special. It's bit more fast and intense than others. It has some nice riffs and nice guitar playing, but the entirety stays kinda bad. And there's nothing, that gets stuck in to your head. Third song "Roundtrip to Hell" is the album slowest and most beautiful song. It has its good parts too, but nothing really special compared to other COB's slower songs like "Everytime i die". Next song "Pussyfoot Miss Suicide" is just a filler and nothing to say about it, nothings is really good in it.

The next one is the one carrying the album's name. "Relentless Reckless Forever" is just normal Bodom song with no epic melodies nor guitar playing. just a bit catchy chorus. Ugly is just another filler, just to get the album 8th tracks long. "Cry of the Nihiilst" is one of the best songs in this album. Some new unique riffs and nice melodies. It's a bit shame that the chorus sounds exactly like "Blooddrunk"'s "Tie my rope". When your listening the chorus it starts really bugging you. "Was it Worth?" is the next song, the "radio friendly one", which every mainstream metal bands have to have in their albums. It's really bad song too, in my opinion. And it's shame that COB started to make "pop-songs" for money. Last song "Northpole throwdown. isnt really even worth mentioning. And really this album asks "Was it Worth it?", well it wasn't.

Okey.. Beyond Creation has soon released their first full-lenght album and it contains 10 tracks. First I must say this album is something I've never heard before. If you like technical death metal or some kind of death metal with some melodic elements, you will love this album. I'm sure there will be people, who say that technical death metal is only overtechnical shit, but they aren't right.

My first feelings about this album were, that this cannot be true. But it still is...All musicians has done their jobs as carefully as they could. There's no mistakes on this album. Only success.

What can I say about these 10 tracks? The album starts with the song ''No request for the corrupted'' (which maybe contains the most epic bass playing, I've ever heard.) In this song guitarists show their skills too. Next track is ''Co Existance'', which is very good song too. The acoustic part on this song, gives a bit alternation between more brutal parts. ''Chromatic horizons'' is very short, under two minutes long instrumental track, but it still contains everything that is needed. ''Omnipresent perception'' shows that Beyond Creation can handle breakdowns too. I'm still amazed by the blastbeat on this song...''Injustice revealed'', ''Social disability'' and ''Le detenteur'' are good songs too, but nothing special compared to other songs. ''The Aura'' starts with a beautiful bass intro. This is maybe the most melodic song of these 10, but still stays in the brutal area. Last two songs ''Elevation path'' and ''The deported'' together create an epic, almost 13 minutes long track, that i can only admire.. ''Elevation path'' is a short acoustic song. It's a bit like Santana's ''Black magic woman'' and it's a very good opening for the last song. ''The deported" is just a pure perfection, without any boring parts. I just never get fed up with it...

I really recommend this album for every tech-death fans. You won't be disappointed. This too unknown band consists of four very, very talented guys and I'm sure that we will hear about them in the future.

Emmure's music consist mostly of brutal slow breakdowns and some breakdown styled riffs. So you wont hear any super fast blast beats or machine gun double pedal kicks in Emmure's albums. That's for the Emmure introduction. Now to the album review!

Speaker of the Dead consists of 15 songs, which is kinda lot. Mostly pretty short songs, and some are just simple breakdown all song long. Thats Emmure's style though. When you're listening song, you will notice that there's some fill-songs.You can hear Emmure's epicness in the first song Children of Cybertron, which only consist of 1 Breakdown, ONE. It's still amazing song and the Emmures style to make breakdowns is so brutal, that you just want to start moshing instantly. It's just so god damn brutal....

Next few songs are pretty much solid Emmure songs. Then it gets to song number five, that's the best song in this album. "Solar Flare Homicide" has epic deathcore riffs and so brutal breakdowns(if you havent heard the word brutal yet), that you just want to headbang your head off(literally). This song is Emmure at its best, and everybody who's intrested in Emmure should listen it.next few songs are pretty simple good Emmure songs.

Nothing special until the 9:th song called "Last words to rose". It's like some kind of a love song , or just "beautiful" side of Emmure.Nothing really special in this song, but its randomly different from the other songs so worth mentioning. Rest of the songs are the same Emmure that the whole album has been, just breakdowns and brutal riffs with very harsh vocals.

When I first heard the song ''War of the gods'' (when it was on pre-listening) I just thought that it was the same old Amon Amarth as always. Not so good, but not so bad either. After a few listenings I found some new elements there. The guitar solo (or melody part whatever ) sounded very fresh and new. Another thing was that in the chorus there was no superfast bassdrum comp, as it had been since the first Amon Amarth album (not counting a few exceptions). So, i really started to wait this new album...

''Surtur Rising'' sounds cool. Feels like the album is some kind of second level, on the way that ''Twilight of the thunder god'' started. There is lots of new elements on this album, and still you can hear the old Amon Amarth somewehere there. Again Amon Amarth has managed to come up with many good melodies and riffs.

Even if this album was the best Amon Amarth album, there's still too many fill up songs like it's been in the last albums. For example the songs ''Wrath of the Norsemen'' and ''The last stand of frej'' are both quite qualityless. But on the other hand, songs like ''War of the gods'', ''Destroyer of the universe'' and particularly ''For victory or death'' are much better, and the best that this album can offer. And of course ''Doom over dead man'' deserves mentioning because of it's pretty synthesizer melody. But what can i say about the bonus track ''Aerials'' (''System of a down'' cover). it just doesn't work because it needs clean vocals on the chorus too. It's still a nice try...

So, in the end i can say that this new album is really worth listening and it's very good Amon Amarth album. Guitar work is good as always before, drumming is just awesome and Johan Hegg's vocals has developed and is much deeper now. I still think Amon Amarth is a bit overrated band because there is too many fill up songs and similarities between all of it's albums.
However, Obscura proved that it's able to reform itself and released an even more epic album than ''Cosmogenesis'' was.

Omnivium includes nine epic and mystical tracks. The first song ''Septuagint'' starts with a beautiful acoustic intro and after that, Obscura shows that it still knows how to give people a satisfying listening experience. Next song ''Vortex Omnivium'' is a great song too. It's a bit like new ''Anticosmic overload'' with it's fast blast beats and technical guitar riffs. There is still few songs, that were not so good than the other ones. For example the song ''Ocean gateways'' is a bit boring, maybe because of it's slow tempo and simple guitar work. Songs ''Prismal dawn'' and ''Velocity'' are very good examples of true masterpieces. ''Prismal Dawn'' combines a beautiful melody and brutality with an exellent way.You really must listen it over and over again, once you've heard it. ''Velocity'' is a very fresh song. It involves slower and faster parts with growling and clean vocals, and of course Velocity contains one of the most epic guitar solo of all time. In my opinion the clean vocals on this album were not so good at first, but after a few listening times you'll get used to them. There were some similarities in guitar solos compared to ''Cosmogenesis'', but still ''Omnivium'' is one of the best albums, that has been released this year. Its actually the best Obscura album for now.

ABRB's first album Allegiance had epic riffs and technical playing with nice metalcore glances. First album fell with the similarity of the songs. If you would listen the whole album through, you'd heard the same kinda riffs in nearly all songs. The Insticts riffs arent anything like Allegiance's, but the same problem shows up after listening few songs. Once again the album riffs are solid and nice to hear, but the same kind riffs goes through the whole album. It's kinda a random element in this album, you can listen it, but you wont propably recognize when the song changes. (There's some few instrumental and easy going songs that you will notice, but after all its the same riffs all over again)
The album isnt bad, it's solid like I've said before, but in my opinion it needs more diversity in the riffs. Theres really no song that stucks in to your head after listening, you can nearly listen any song, and its all good. Depends lots of how you like to listen music, and you like this style, making a few epic riffs and then with few changes using it in the whole album. It's very effective when your making an album and fear that theres some fill up songs that no-one listen, but those songs could be the thing that seperates the songs from the masses. This one's got more epic vocals in my opinion though, and the whole vocal presence is improved compared to the last album.

I gotta admit i liked the first album better, the "good riffs" were better in the first album, but suit yourself. It's worth listening allright.
Originally one of the progressive deathcore pioneers from USA had so random and fresh style of playing that it amazed people all over the world. Now many years later their 3rd album was released. The music is simply epic in all sorts of ways, album's songs are epic, albums mixing is epic and so is the whole package.
But what makes the album so great? Album`s riffs are new and even more technical and the variability between the singers and the keyboardists singing is very neat sounding. BOO's music has gone so ambient, with still being so catchy and so extremely experimental. This all makes it one of the best new albums out there, with the massive 15 songs on the album. The unique styles they posses is something out from this world. Its kinda hard to explain, but check it out your self!
